Department of History:

Department of History was established in the year 1986, initially only as a general subject under BA general course. Honours Programme of the department started in 2001. At present the department has 8 faculty members - one Associate Professor, one Assistant Professor, six SACT (State Aided College Teachers). Since its establishment, the Department of History has grown as one of the major departments with high demand. Strong Student–Teacher bond, good results made the department a destination for many students. Teachers of the department always extend their hands to help the students within and outside the classroom. Department organises seminars, Quiz Competitions, Educational Tours, Student's Seminars, publish wall magazine 'KOHINOOR' as regular departmental activity. The Department also has a departmental Library with more than 400 books. The library is run with active participation of students. The result of the department in university examinations is satisfactory. Some of the students pursue higher studies or professional courses. Most of the alumni of the department are employed in teaching profession.
